COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Markosky supports community organizations corporately, and encourages staff to participate individually in groups that better our communities.  We are a member of the Ligonier Valley and Westmoreland Chambers of Commerce.  We employ more than 60 employees whom all support local restaurants and businesses in Ligonier and throughout Westmoreland County.  We support local charities, fire departments, schools and conservation districts through financial contributions, employee contributions, and professional services.

We particularly invest in groups that benefit

children such as the Laurel Highlands Council

Boy Scouts of America, Dreams Go On Trail

Ride, STAT, Inc., Alliance of Student Athletes

and Ligonier Camp & Conference Center and

many more.

Our staff mentors students in competitions such

as Future City, funded by DiscoverE and Tests

of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science (TEAM+S). Along with these mentoring programs, we often take on interns as well as job shadows, at both high school and college level.

HIGHLIGHTED STORIES

The Bridge Inspection Department was asked to do a presentation to DCNR forestry and engineering on our drone operations which we have now used on several of their inspections and will be using for Oil Creek in the next few weeks.  The presentation can be found at the link below.  I believe we will have a number of opportunities to assist them specifically with this over the next few years.  It was specifically mentioned for dam inspections.
